Just more than 24 hours before she takes the stage alongside Coldplay during the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, Beyoncé has released a surprise new track called "Formation."

The song, which arrived in the form of an accompanying video, comes as the singer is said to have quietly finished a new album toward the end of last year. It's unknown if "Formation" is the first preview of that record.

It's worth noting Beyoncé's curious timing for releasing the single, hours before the Super Bowl and days before the Grammys (Feb. 15), but it could be a signal there's a lot more on the way.

As we previously mentioned, she and Bruno Mars will both join headliners Coldplay during Sunday's Super Bowl halftime show on CBS.
