Prince's music sold in staggering numbers following his death on Thursday, lifting his greatest hits album The Very Best of Prince to No. 1 for the week ending Thursday, the same day as his death.

According to Nielsen Music's stats, Best shifted 179,000 equivalent album units, with 100,000 being traditional album sales. That marks an increase in sales of 11,232%.

Additionally, Prince's Purple Rain soundtrack has also rocketed back to No. 2 with 69,000 equivalent album units. And his 1993 triple album The Hits/The B-Sides moved 41,000 units through Thursday, locking up the No. 6 spot.

The singer's music has been selling in big numbers since his death. At one point on Friday, 19 of the top 20 songs on iTunes were by Prince (with Drake's "One Dance" being the lone exception).

It's currently unknown how Prince's catalog will perform on this week's charts following Beyoncé's release on Friday of her new album Lemonade, which industry insiders predict may sell upwards of 500,000 units.

As of Monday night (April 25), Prince's music has sold nearly 3.5 million downloads since the singer's death on Thursday. This tally includes 654,000 albums and 2.82 million songs.

Prince's music is largely unavailable on streaming platforms outside of Tidal, thus steering many fans to purchase his songs.
