As Southeast Texas still faces catastrophic flooding, around 7 million residents have been affected by Hurricane Harvey.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency on Monday called on all Americans to get involved however possible.
"This is a landmark event for Texas," said FEMA administrator Brock Long, adding: "I’m asking for all citizens to get involved here. Donate your money, figure out how you can get involved as we help Texas find a new normal going forward after this devastating disaster."
Houston, the fourth largest metro in the country, is largely under water and is expecting more rainfall through the end of the week. Meanwhile, thousands are reportedly still waiting to either be rescued or find shelter.
While Variance typically covers music, entertainment and culture, Harvey has most certainly impacted the latter. Texas is also our co-founder Jonathan Robles' home state.
Given how Texas (and now Louisiana) will likely be in recovery for weeks and months to come, we think it's important to help how we can. And we've compiled some resources, which are listed below.
It's not an exhaustive list, but most of the organizations are local to Texas or have been among the first to designate specific funds as a result of this storm.
