2012 Mercury award winning band and triple BRIT nominees Alt-J is to collaborate with director Bruce Goodison to compose a soundtrack for the movie Leave to Remain.

The movie, featuring Toby Jones alongside an ensemble cast of emerging talent, details the story of a young Afghan boy who arrives in London and follows him and a group of friends and his fight for a right to stay in the U.K.

Goodison approached the band after penning the script to his film while listening to the band’s debut album Awesome Wave.

It went on to be certified Gold in the U.K. and has sold 350,000 copies globally, making it one of the biggest debut albums of 2012.

Alt-J vocalist and guitarist Joe Newman read the script for Leave to Remain and watched some of Goodison's other work which includes My Murder and the BAFTA-winning documentary 10 Days to War.

The score will be Alt-J’s first time to score a soundtrack.

Note: The Brits ceremony will be held on Wednesday.
