Three weeks before the premiere of Fear the Walking Dead on AMC, the network has renewed the show for a second season.

As we previously mentioned, The Walking Dead prequel series will launch its six-episode first season with a 90-minute premiere on Aug. 23.

AMC said Friday afternoon during its Television Critics Association panel the show's second run would consist of 15 episodes premiering sometime next year.

Producers also confirmed on Friday that the show will move at a much slower pace than the flagship series, noting that it's about humans not zombies.

Executive producer Dave Erickson confirmed earlier this month the timeline for the Los Angeles-based companion show falls somewhere around the start of the virus outbreak, when the original show's protagonist Rick Grimes in a coma.
