Rising artist Young Orange has released a new song called "Had Enough."

The artist-producer also recently chatted with Variance to talk about his music, the inspiration and what he's working on lately.

Hear the new single now, followed by our Q+A.

What does the name Young Orange mean and how did it come about?

My name came about when I first started putting songs out. My friends when I was in high school used to call me "orange" as a nickname, and I just put the "Young'' in front of it.

As a self-produced artist, what is the biggest challenge you face?

When I'm creating a song, the biggest thing for me is to have fun. I think the hardest part is just getting the mix right in the end and making sure it's the closest possible outcome to how I envisioned it to sound in my head.

What was the inspiration for the new single?

I wrote "Had Enough" in November last year over a beat I made with my electric guitar. I played and recorded the guitar loop one day, then weeks later came back and produced the full instrumental. The weird guitar tone I used had a spacey/dark vibe to it and the melody is what inspired me to write those lyrics!

Who is someone who influences you?

Russ is a huge inspiration. Being an independent artist is not the easiest route and isn't for everyone, but he's shown me that it's possible to take it to an insane level while remaining independent.

If you could collaborate with anyone in the future, who would it be and why?

I really wanna work with Kenny Beats. He is a really dope producer. I like how he's always using real instruments and I think we could make something crazy!

What are you currently working on?

Right now, I'm just trying to finish and release a bunch of singles over the next year. I have a lot of songs in the vault.
