What a Friday indeed! Today, we've got that long-teased collaboration from Elton John and Britney Spears, who have linked up for "Hold Me Closer," a new spin on Elton John's 1971 hit "Tiny Dancer."

This is Spears' first release recorded since the end of her conservatorship, and the origins of the team-up date back to 2014 when Spears first met Elton John at his AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party. Following a tweet by Spears in 2015, the idea was formed, but it wasn't until this summer that the two stars finally got together to create the magic.

“I am absolutely thrilled to have had the chance to work with Britney Spears," says Elton John. "She truly is an icon, one of the all-time great pop stars and she sounds amazing on this record. I love her dearly and am delighted with what we've created together.”

Adds Spears: “I was so honored when the incredible Sir Elton John asked me to join him on one his most iconic songs. We are so excited for the fans to hear it! Thank you, Elton, for having me! I am so grateful that I got the opportunity to work with you and your legendary mind.”

Hear it now.
