Boston born, Los Angeles-based artist Gretchen Klempa shimmers with her debut single “Drunk At Your Funeral.” The nostalgic tune echoes with a ghostly atmosphere, as her vocals reverberate amidst a repetitive guitar line and marching beat. Touching on the devastation of losing a loved one, Klempa highlights the emotions you go through when trying to grieve and how it makes you re-evaluate your entire life.

“Drunk At Your Funeral” builds and builds, hitting an overwhelming crescendo before dropping back down to soft, subtle instrumentation and Klempa’s poignant words as she sings, “While the state of the world - it made you sick, you were the nicest one in town. I guess I was naive to think, you’d always be around.”

“Drunk At Your Funeral” is the first single to be released off of her upcoming EP. The songwriter confides, “These songs are very autobiographical. If I could die tomorrow in a global pandemic, what would I want to say to the world? What is my voice? This EP is an ode to my 20's. Your twenties are really fucking hard and not many people talk about that.  These are not highly crafted pop songs. They show a snapshot of where I was in time when the world was ending. Themes of loss, grief, growing up, where I stand in the world, questioning religion, and letting go. The goal of this debut song/ EP was honesty.”
