Following his 2021 EP, Afterglow, Los Angeles based artist and producer Black Sands (Andrew Balfour) has dropped his first release of the year with new single “Deserve.” With much of his music taking inspiration from both the light and the dark, the new track hones in on this concept, with the artist realizing that there is beauty in both and the most important thing is to find balance between the good and the bad. 

Based around the narrative of gratitude, “Deserve” is a wholesome anthem, speaking about the appreciation for the people who stuck by him through thick and thin, showing their true loyalty. Featuring vocals from Australian R&B artist Isadora, the song glimmers with animated melodies, fast-paced beats, quirky embellishments and an overall soulful tone. Taking inspiration from nature and the ebb and flow of the ocean, “Deserve” reflects the rhythms of waves crashing against the shoreline, captivating the listener with its mesmerizing flow. 

Balfour shares, “There’s something beautiful yet dark about it. Deserve hits on the theme of loyalty and gratitude. Staying loyal and true to friends and relationships even when people are at their worst to help them persevere.”
