Magically mellow and oozing with sweet vulnerability, singer/songwriter Lucy Wroe perfectly captures the emotions and self-realisations that come with relationships and falling in love. Born and raised in Winchester, the musician began flourishing when she picked up a guitar at age 10, and has not stopped since. Moving to London to study music, Wroe continued to bloom, releasing her debut single in 2020, before going on to write and record her mesmerising EP Same World.

Coming to life over spring and summer of 2021, just as the third lockdown was nearing its end, Wroe penned the title track of the EP, “Same World” in a cloud of procrastination to escape her university work. What started out as one song depicting the blissful lust at the beginning of a relationship, serendipitously turned into a cohesively curated EP, exploring stages of relationships track-by-track.

Saturated in warming, smoky soundscapes, the EP has a jazz infused haze throughout, which is perfectly complemented by Wroe’s flavoursome vocals. Exploring different emotions, each song represents various phases of a relationship; the initial spark and whirlwind beginning; the intensifying of feelings; the recognition of sacrifices you’ve made; and finally the self-realisation that the relationship wasn’t going to grow into anything more permanent. Sonically textured, Same World has groove-driven percussion as the backdrop of each song, though each track is layered with varying instrumentation, adding excitement, colour and feeling to the story Wroe is telling.
