Following last month's release of his song "Nothing Like the Night," Brooklyn-based singer Sam Koechlin (aka Sam Himself) has shared another dazzling offering in the form of "What It's Worth."

The new song arrived Friday as the next preview of the artist's upcoming debut album Power Ballads, which is eyeing an October release. It's the latest standout from the singer, who has had our attention for months as he has teased his full-length.

The album is reflective of the uncertainty and trauma of the events of the last year. As we previously mentioned, Koechlin had been touring in Europe as the pandemic shut down much of the globe, leaving the singer unable to return back to New York. Instead, he remained back in his native Switzerland and wrote and recorded most of the 10 tracks which would eventually form his album.

"My own history caught up with me during my time back in Switzerland," says Koechlin of the new song. "That’s where I grew up, and living there again brought back a lot of memories; home doesn’t forget… One ghost I kept running into was that of an old relationship that fell apart when I lost my dad a few years ago. My hometown is the place where all of that happened, his death and all its casualties, and ‘What It’s Worth’ is about one of them.”

The new song is accompanied by a lyric video directed by Koechlin's ongoing collaborator Stefan Tschumi.
