With a new album on the way next month, Chiara Angelicola (aka Bird Call) is ready to share a new single.

Her shimmering new track "Chroma Love" is the latest preview of her upcoming record, Year of the Dogfish, and it's premiering today on Variance ahead of the album's release on Nov. 8.

"By the end of the record, in 'Chroma Love,' the listener arrives at the stage where I currently feel I am living in...a place of transcendence, confidence, freedom, and recovery," says Angelicola of the new song. "And sonically, the final single ends with the instrumentation we began the record with—big horns, synths, guitars, etc.—as a way of culminating the experience."

The new album comes after a six-year break, following her 2013 album Will We Get to Mars?, with the new material having been written between 2016 and 2018 as Angelicola had left the Bay Area and moved to Los Angeles after a turbulent breakup, while struggling with depression and alcohol. The album is said to be reflective of "solitude, isolation, loss, recovery, and, ultimately, transcendence."
