Judah & the Lion is getting ready to release a new album this spring. Titled Pep Talks, they confirmed Wednesday the record will arrive on May 3 via Cletus the Van/Caroline.
To celebrate the news, the trio has shared a heartbreaking new track called "Pictures," which happens to be a collaboration with fellow Nashville favorite and Grammys Album of the Year winner Kacey Musgraves. The result is something spellbinding, as Musgraves vocals serve as a perfect accompaniment to those of singer Judah Akers.
The song was written in the middle of Akers’ deep family struggles due to alcoholism, affairs, death and divorce. "I had a really deep moment with my mom when she called me and broke down bawling about how hard it was to move from our family house," says Akers. "I wrote the song from her perspective and it came in a flood, in five minutes, right after the call. I needed to write it because I was heartsick."
