Newcomer Tali is preparing to release an EP later this summer, but first she is sharing her new single "(Don't) Wanna Be Yours."

The moody, empowering new cut is premiering today on Variance, offering a riveting preview of the upcoming project, titled Shadows, which is expected to arrive on Sept. 11. On the new song, the Toronto singer showcases her captivating vocals while proving she isn't messing around.

"The song came to me when the guy about whom I wrote this song, lit up his chocolate-flavoured cigars even when I’d ask him if he would not smoke around me, and he still did," says Tali. "This song details other ways he’d get on my nerves in our short-lived romance, such as how differently he’d treat me around his friends. This song was written in Nicaragua."
