Emerging singer James Chester (aka Conventioner) will be releasing a new single on Friday, but he's giving fans an early listen.

The Nashville-based artist is premiering his new song "Patterns" on Variance today. The lush new track makes an entrancing pop gem of a relationship which is stuck, inspired by unhealthy and sometimes toxic connections.

"I think a lot of people have had the kind of relationship that falls into a cycle of on again and off again, push and pull," says Conventioner of the new song. "I have a lot of friends who have felt trapped by patterns and cycles that they knew were not healthy for them. I wanted to write about that moment of clarity where you start to think objectively about what's going on and how it's affecting you."
