Outside Lands 2023 is officially in the rearview mirror, as festival season now begins to wind down.

The San Francisco fest returned this year with another incredible lineup, held once again at Golden Gate Park from Aug. 11-13, returning to its traditional spot on the calendar after trying a fall slot in 2021 as most festivals played it cautiously following the pandemic.

This year's lineup included an abundance of popular acts, including Foo Fighters, Kendrick Lamar, Lana Del Rey, The 1975, Megan Thee Stallion, Janelle Monáe, Maggie Rogers, J.I.D, Lil Yachty, Father John Misty, Geographer, Cigarettes After Sex, Willow, beabadoobee and more.

Of course, this year's Outside Lands comes as the festival landscape appears to be at somewhat of a crossroads, with fewer fests taking much in the form of risks and many of the bigger festivals forging a more monolithic path, as lineups look more similar every year.

By comparison, Kendrick Lamar, Lana Del Rey, The 1975, Maggie Rogers, Lil Yachty, J.I.D, beabadoobee, ODESZA, Noah Kahan and others all played the previous weekend at Lollapalooza in Chicago. And many of those same artists will be at Lolla's sister fest, Austin City Limits, in October.

On the bright side, the Bay Area offers its own magical charm, and there were plenty of variations with Outside Lands, including performances from Janelle Monáe, Megan Thee Stallion, Foo Fighters, Zedd, Willow, Nation of Language, Father John Misty, FISHER, Eddie Zuko, Cigarettes After Sex, Tobe Nwigwe and others.
