As SXSW 2023 quickly approaches, the lineup continues to expand.
On Friday, Billboard announced the return of its The Stage shows which will take place at Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park. The first night (March 16) will be headlined by Lil Yachty, while March 17 while feature Latin music stars Feid and Eladio Carrión, with DJ icons Kaskade and deadmau5's Kx5 project closing out March 18.
Billboard's involvement in SXSW again isn't much of a surprise, as the magazine's parent company Penske Media Corporation and MRC purchased a 50 percent stake in the Austin festival and conference, essentially offering the event a lifeline after two years without in-person festivities due to the pandemic, which led to layoffs shortly after the 2020 fest was scrapped. P-MRC owns a number of publications including Billboard, Variety, Rolling Stone, Vibe and others which now typically host showcases and events during SXSW.
In addition to The Stage, Billboard will also host the Billboard House at SXSW, an interactive content event March 17 at 800 Congress in Austin, which will feature "interactive activations and industry-focused discussions."
Meanwhile, a number of big-name showcases continue to be added to the SXSW music lineup. On Monday, Paste Magazine confirmed it will host a multi-day showcase from March 15-17. And Give A Note and Artist For Artist will host an event called Music Unites Us on March 14 featuring Talib Kweli, Robby Krieger of The Doors, Bartees Strange and Revenge Wife. Showtime has also announced what it's calling Camp Yellowjackets, promoting its hit series Yellowjackets ahead of its March 26 return with replicas from the show's campsite, BBQ and cocktails.
SXSW is set for March 10-19 in Austin, TX, with the music portion running March 13-18.
