Heading into this weekend's Grammy ceremony, breakout pop trio fun. in a new radio interview discussed their whirlwind year that will likely be capped off on Sunday with a gold trophy.
“It’s been crazy," frontman Nate Ruess told Boston's Mix 104.1. We had never really done television before this year and it all just gets easier and easier every single time,” frontman Nate Ruess said. “I started out as someone who had spent stage 10 years having stage fright. I only got over it this year. So, now the television stage fright is starting to lessen and lessen too.”
That's certainly good news, considering the band will perform on Sunday, where they are nominated for six awards—including Record of the Year for “We Are Young” featuring Janelle Monae, Best Pop Vocal Album for Some Nights and Best New Artist. But the nomination they feel most proud of is the big one, Album of the Year.
“It recognizes the entire body of work,” Jack Antonoff said. “We love all of our songs. It’s cool to be nominated for 'Some Nights’ and ‘We Are Young’ but to be nominated for 11 songs versus 1, it’s just kind of math.”
Now it just remains to be seen all the math will work out on Sunday. The Grammys air at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. We will be coming to you live during the broadcast from the Staples Center, so be sure to follow along.
