The nominations for the 64th Annual Grammy Awards were announced Tuesday. And as expected, it's a big year for Olivia Rodrigo and surprisingly, Jon Batiste, the latter of whom leads with 11 nods.
As for Rodrigo, she nabbed nominations in all of the top four—Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist.
Others who scored a big handful of nods include Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, H.E.R., Doja Cat, Kanye West, Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X.
The nominations for the 2022 Grammys come just eight months after the 2021 ceremony, which was delayed and ultimately reformatted due to Covid cases at the time.
It's also worth noting, this round of nominations is the first since the Recording Academy abandoned its controversial nominating committees, which were famously lambasted by The Weeknd, who called the "secret" panels "corrupt," and subsequently boycotted the awards show. In the past, the committees would typically review the top 20 nominees in a given category and select the five to eight official nominees announced to the public. Now, the nominees are simply the top vote-getters, without any hand-selection.
The 2022 Grammys are expected to be in a much more familiar setting and format. The big show will take place on Jan. 31 at the soon-to-be-renamed STAPLES Center, which will next month become the Crypto.com Arena. The awards ceremony will broadcast live at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST on CBS and on-demand on Paramount+.
Update: Due to the state of the pandemic in early January, the Recording Academy postponed the 2022 Grammys, subsequently rescheduling the event for April 3. Because of the lack of availability at the original venue (Crypto.com Arena in L.A.), the ceremony will be hosted at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
