As Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) continues to amp up his focus on new music, he has a series of mysterious events cropping up this weekend.
The actor-musician on Friday announced a handful of "Summertime Starts Here" events set for today, Saturday and Sunday in New York, Los Angeles and London. As it turns out, he's simply organized the pop-up stations to give out free ice cream cones to fans.
However, the sudden music-related activity follows Wednesday's release of new tracks "Feels Like Summer" and "Summertime Magic," the latter of which is the first official single from Gambino's upcoming album, his first with RCA Records. He also performed the track Thursday night at Bilbao BBK Live in Spain.
Back in May, Gambino released "This Is America" as well as "Saturday," both of which Glover performed on SNL. He has been spending time in the studio with Chance the Rapper, who confirmed late last month the two were finally close to making their long-discussed joint project a reality.
In addition to Gambino's upcoming tour, with guests Rae Sremmurd and Vince Staples, he has also been added to the lineup for this year's iHeartRadio Music Festival this September in Las Vegas.
