The National Cancels Istanbul Show Due to Protests in Turkey

The National on Wednesday announced that they have been forced to cancel their June 23 show in Istanbul, Turkey, because of ongoing unrest in the region. Their cancellation comes as protestors and police continue to clash violently, with police using tear gas and grenades in attempts to clear the streets.

"We're sad to report that our Istanbul show has been cancelled," the band said online. "We support the right to peaceful protest and hope that excessive violence by riot police ends quickly."

The band is currently touring in support of their new record, Trouble Will Find Me, which is available now.
