Earlier this year, we asked readers whose spring album they were most excited about. Phoenix topped the list (followed by Vampire Weekend and Justin Timberlake, respectively). And we are pleased that the band with one of the year's most anticipated records will be the Variance cover story next month.

The French music makers, coming off a seemingly forever-long hiatus, talk with us ahead of their forthcoming album, Bankrupt!, which is due out April 23 via Glassnote. They will also be making their return to Saturday Night Live on one of the season's biggest episodes (April 6), with host Melissa McCarthy. It is the second appearance for both acts, following critically acclaimed debuts.
