'The Voice' Reportedly Cancels Rumored Christina Aguilera-Whitney Houston Hologram Duet

It appears the rumored Christina Aguilera duet with a Whitney Houston hologram wasn't meant to be.

According to TMZ, producers for The Voice have scrapped the performance after previewing a rehearsal earlier this week, deeming the hologram not ready for primetime.

While Aguilera's vocals and on-stage delivery are said to have exceeded expectations, the Houston visual "didn't look like Whitney" to producers and managers of the late singer's estate.

The performance, which was expected to take place during the Sept. 24 season finale of The Voice, was never officially confirmed by the show. And Aguilera herself had said she couldn't comment on speculation because she was "sworn to secrecy."

Without a debut on the top-rated singing competition, this is likely a setback for Hologram USA, the company which has been planning to take the digital Whitney on a global tour later this year.

A rep for The Voice did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
