Lauryn Hill Has Checked Into Prison

Lauryn Hill has begun her three-month sentence for tax evasion, having checked into a federal prison in Connecticut on Monday morning.

According to TMZ, the 38-year-old Fugees frontwoman was booked into the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury at 11:15 a.m. EST. The FCI is reportedly a “minimum security type facility” where inmates live in “barracks type” housing. Hill will also be housed with the general population, despite previous reports to the contrary.

As we previously reported, the singer failed to pay taxes on nearly $2 million in earnings. Although she signed a new deal with Sony, which helped pay part of her debt, she was still sentenced to three months in prison.
