Kendrick Lamar's 'good kid, m.A.A.d city' Goes Platinum

Almost exactly ten months from its release, Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city album has crossed 1 million copies sold this week, officially reaching platinum status.

The record saw a 22% boost this past week (likely due to the rapper's controversial "Control" verse) with 9,000 copies sold, pushing it to exactly 1 million. Lamar received his platinum plaque a few weeks ago when the number of albums shipped (although not sold) reached the lofty benchmark. However, it's now official in sales.

GKMC released on Oct. 22, 2012. Serving as Lamar's major label debut on Aftermath/Interscope, the record hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 242,000 copies sold in its first week.
