Hold your horses, Eminem. Despite evidence on last week's charts that Em and Rihanna's "The Monster" might overtake Lorde's "Royals" this week, the 17-year-old singer's hit keeps the crown this week for a ninth consecutive week.
But as Billboard points out, "Royals" has a narrowing lead as "Monster" closes in and is almost certain to overtake the throne by as soon as next week.
With 177,000 downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan, "Royals" saw a 12% jump this week. But at 241,000 copies, "Monster" is gaining due to radio airplay and streaming.
Elsewhere in the top 10, OneRepublic sees a new top five as "Counting Stars" rockets to No. 4, jumping two spots. Imagine Dragons' "Demons" also climbs to No. 6.
And rounding out the top 10, with his first in the elite sector of the charts, is Passenger's "Let Her Go." With 117,000 downloads, the song saw 18% and 10% rises on the Radio Songs and Streaming Songs charts, respectively.
