Beats Music Launching in January; Claim Name Now

Beats Music, the long-rumored Spotify competitor, is finally happening.

After teasing the product for most of 2013, the company plans to be more than just your favorite headphones—they want to be your source of music. And as convenient as Spotify has proven to be over the past couple of years, its recent battles over artist royalties may be peaking at the perfect moment for Beats to make a grand entrance.

With more than $60 million in project investments so far, the service is currently in private beta testing. But as of Wednesday, CEO Ian Rogers took to his personal blog to confirm that "Beats Music is real" and it will launch in January.
