'How I Met Your Mother' Series Finale Earns Show's Highest Ratings Ever

For its series finale, How I Met Your Mother saw a massive ratings spike, both in the key demo and in total viewers.

Last week's penultimate episode grew to 9.1 million viewers and 11 percent share of the 18-49 demo, but Monday night's final bow ballooned to 13 million viewers and a 16 percent share (a 51% gain), topping regular Monday ratings winner NBC's The Voice. It was the CBS comedy's best ratings and highest viewership ever.

In today's challenging television landscape, HIMYM's ratings are a huge accomplishment, as the show still ranked as the No. 3 comedy this season in the key demo, behind only The Big Bang Theory and Modern Family.
