More good news out of the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Monday came in the form of FX's official renewal of Louis C.K.'s Louie.
FX Networks CEO John Landgraf told reporters the Emmy-winning series will return in late spring 2015 for a fifth season, albeit a short one, promising seven episodes (maybe eight). As TV Line points out, that's about half its previous seasons of 13 to 14 episodes.
“Louie’s fourth season was once again groundbreaking," Landgraf said of the show, which is currently nominated for five additional Emmys. "Sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking, always thought-provoking. The show went to narrative and cinematic places no comedy has gone before and we look forward to seeing what Louis [C.K.] comes up with next.”
