Michael Che to Replace Cecily Strong as 'SNL' Weekend Update Anchor

Apparently Lorne Michaels does hear my prayers, as Cecily Strong has been removed from the anchor chair of Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update.

The NBC sketch comedy series is bringing in comedian Michael Che, who joined last season as a writer, to take her place in front of the camera.

Even in the final months of head writer and co-anchor Seth Meyers' tenure, Strong's performance was rough. And after his departure, it seemed clear she didn't really fit the role.

Che is perhaps best known for his contributions to The Daily Show and his recent The Half Hour special on Comedy Central.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Strong will stay on as a SNL featured player. Colin Jost will remain co-anchor alongside Che.
