Crystal Castles is no more, after more than a decade making music together.

Vocalist Alice Glass took to social media on Wednesday to reveal she is leaving the band and pursuing a career as a solo artist.

"My art and my self-expression in any form has always been an attempt towards sincerity, honesty, and empathy for others," she said. "For a multitude of reasons both professional and personal I no longer feel that this is possible within [the band]. Although this is the end of the band, I hope my fans will embrace me as a solo artist in the same way they have embraced Crystal Castles."

The Toronto outfit's last album was 2012's III. Glass didn't immediately expand on her specific solo endeavors, but it's been over a year since the band performed live together.

UPDATE: The duo's manager responded to Glass' announcement, telling NME "there will be twists and turns ahead for Crystal Castles, I wouldn't bury the dead just yet!"
