While Adele had seemed to suggest earlier this year she might be ready to release a new album, her label has made clear it's not going to happen.
In a financial report obtained by The New York Times, XL Recordings informed regulators that, among other things: "There will not be a further new release by Adele during 2014 and consequently there will be a fall in XL’s turnover and profits."
The Times points out that, despite $15 million in net profit, a new full-length from the "Rolling in the Deep" singer would have given the label—and the music industry as a whole—a major boost after what's been a lackluster year for sales.
Adele's last album, 21, was released in 2011 and has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide.
