It appears Azealia Banks has a good reason for waiting until 2016 to release her sophomore album: She's going to be busy making her film debut as the star of Coco, a hip-hop drama directed by RZA.
Variety reports that Banks, whose Broke with Expensive Taste was one of Variance's Best Albums of 2014, will play the title character, an aspiring rapper struggling with her parents' hopes of finishing college despite receiving a record deal.
The film is described as having a tone similar to 8 Mile. Banks' co-stars will include Common and Jill Scott, among others.
