Passion Pit's Michael Angelakos has come down with bronchitis and pneumonia, forcing the band to delay and reschedule a pair of upcoming North American shows.
Wednesday's (July 22) show in Portland, Maine, Thursday's (July 23) show in Boston have been rescheduled for Sept. 15 and Sept. 16, respectively.
Angelakos explained via Facebook on Tuesday night that he had been "hospitalized for awhile on Monday night. With a pretty bad fever and difficulty breathing, it dawned on me that this wasn’t happening. Believing that I can rest up just in time for these shows isn’t entirely logical. You tour, you get sick, it happens."
Describing himself as "bedridden," Angelakos apologized to the fans who bought tickets and he also thanked the promoters for working with the band and rescheduling. As for opener BROODS, the brother-sister duo noted that they're not yet sure if they will be able to make the rescheduled dates.
See Passion Pit's revised tour schedule below.
Update: As of July 24, Passion Pit's performances at both WayHome Music & Arts Festival (July 25) in Oro Medonte, Canada, and Detroit's Mo Pop Festival (July 26) have been canceled due to Michael Angelakos' ongoing illness.
