It appears Adam Levine-fronted Maroon 5 is in the running to perform next year's Super Bowl 50 halftime show.

E! News reported late Wednesday afternoon the band has been in "extensive talks" with the NFL and is currently the "frontrunner" in discussions that previously included Coldplay and Bruno Mars, the latter of whom performed in 2014.

This year's show, helmed by Katy Perry with guests Missy Elliott and Lenny Kravitz, was the highest rated in television history with 121 million viewers.

Super Bowl 50, which will air on CBS, is set for Feb. 7 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
