As New Girl continues its current fifth season, the Fox comedy has invited Damon Wayans Jr. back for a pair of episodes including the season finale.

Co-star Jake Johnson sparked excitement on Wednesday when he took to Instagram to tease Wayans' return, which is hardly a surprise as the season is expected to wrap with Cece and Schmidt's wedding.

Sources close to the show have since confirmed the two-episode guest appearance, which will be the actor's first since leaving (again) last spring.

Wayans' history with the show dates back to the first episode, although he didn't continue because his ABC pilot Happy Endings was picked up to series. He eventually returned during season three after Endings' cancellation.
