Following reports on Wednesday that Dave Grohl would be involved in a new HBO series, Foo Fighters have revealed details surrounding the project as well as their forthcoming album.

Due this fall, the album will be accompanied by a "yet untitled HBO series documenting the eight-city odyssey during which the record was created," according to a press release. One song was recorded in each city: Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington, D.C. and New York.

As the band has previously stated, the new record found them experimenting more, with Grohl holding off until the last day of each session to put down lyrics, so as to be inspired by the experiences and personalities that became part of the process.

The album and the show will mark Foo Fighters' 20th anniversary, as Grohl and the band collaborated with and interviewed local musical legends in each of the cities where they recorded, capturing it all for the forthcoming docuseries. And as interviewee Buddy Guy puts it, "everything comes from what's come before."
