Chance the Rapper to HBO: Fire Bill Maher for Using N-Word

Chance the Rapper has joined those asking for Bill Maher's ousting after the comedian casually used the N-word during Friday night's episode of his HBO show Real Time with Bill Maher.

"Please @HBO Do Not Air Another Episode Of Real Time with Bill Maher," Chance tweeted Saturday afternoon, becoming one of the most prominent figures to ask for Maher's firing.

Maher has been facing incredible backlash following an on-air conversation with Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse, who appeared on Real Time last night and invited the host to visit his home state.

"Would you like to come work in the field with us," Sen. Sasse asked, to which Maher responded: "Work in the fields? Senator, I am a house n—."

Maher quickly attempted explain away what he called just a "joke." HBO, for its part, didn't do much to squelch the controversy, releasing a flimsy response: “Bill Maher’s comment last night was completely inexcusable and tasteless,” the network said in a statement. "We are removing his deeply offensive comment from any subsequent airings of the show."

Following growing outrage over his comments, Maher responded on Saturday. "Friday nights are always my worst night of sleep because I’m up reflecting on the things I should or shouldn’t have said on my live show," he said today. "Last night was a particularly long night as I regret the word I used in the banter of a live moment. The word was offensive and I regret saying it and am very sorry."
