Loretta Lynn has been hospitalized following a stroke, her publicist confirmed Friday evening.

The country music icon, who celebrated her 85th birthday last month, was scheduled to kick off a tour tonight in Durham, North Carolina. She is releasing a new album, Wouldn't It Be Great, on Aug. 18.

Lynn was taken to a hospital in Nashville on Thursday night. According to her rep, she is "currently under medical care and is responsive and expected to make a full recovery."

While her tour dates have been postponed indefinitely, Lynn's publicist confirmed the singer intends to reschedule them for a later time.
