Tina Fey Says Series with Amy Poehler Not Possible Because They're Both 'Alphas'

Tina Fey says a television series with her friend and frequent collaborator Amy Poehler is unlikely, despite many requests.

Speaking during a panel Tuesday at the Tribeca Film Festival, Fey said even though they're "regarded as a comedy team" and she's OK with it, "we both know this to be true — it’s because we’re actually both alphas. So it works in short spurts, but I don’t know if we would make a real dynasty.”

She also revealed she enjoyed FX's American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson so much that it prompted her to contact the Television Academy and request to change her membership from writer to actor in order to vote in the Emmy Awards' acting categories.

“You have to pick which you’re in and I was always [voted] as a writer," she said during the panel. "I could have had acting but I just never did. I did it just so I could vote for Sterling K. Brown and Sarah Paulson.”
