While Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” becomes the longest-running No. 1 song of the year (nine weeks), the former champ Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” featuring Kimbra (eight weeks) has become the first song to sell 6 million downloads in a calendar year.

“Somebody” is at 6.046 million sold in 2012 (this total does not include 2011 sales). ”We Are Young” by fun. featuring Janelle Monae is No. 2 at 5.381 million, with Jepsen’s “Maybe” surpassing 5 million downloads this week (5.019 million)

Also noteworthy, “Lights” by Ellie Goulding continues its incredible chart climb, jumping to No. 2 (No. 5 last week). The track, which also returns to No. 1 on On-Demand Songs, jumps 5-4 on Hot 100 Airplay (up 5% in audience impressions) could very well move up to No. 1 next week (or very soon).
