Just three episodes into its sixth season, Suits has been renewed for a seventh 16-episode run next year.

USA Network announced the renewal Wednesday during its panel at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

The renewal likely doesn't come as much of a surprise, as creator Aaron Korsh revealed earlier this year he had extended his contract with Universal for two more years, suggesting an eighth season is also likely.

As we reported last July, Universal Cable Productions president Jeff Wachtel teased last summer he believed the "surprises" (which, as viewers now know, were linked to Mike's prison sentence) would "set future seasons on an exciting new course."

Suits, which is currently averaging 3 million viewers, airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on USA.
