Comedian Leslie Jones, one of Saturday Night Live writers, has been promoted to featured player.

According to Deadline, Jones becomes the third new featured player on the NBC sketch comedy series following this season's recruits "Weekend Update" co-anchor Michael Che and comedian Pete Davidson.

Like Davidson, Jones has made quite the impression during her limited number of onscreen moments on the show, leading to growing support among the show's fans.

Her promotion seems like a very good decision on the part of executive producer Lorne Michaels, who has been trying to rebuild SNL after a number of high-profile departures over the past few seasons.
