A comedy based on the life of Nicki Minaj has been picked up by ABC Family, with a pilot set to be filmed this winter.

Minaj was born in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobego, but her family moved to Queens, New York, in the '90s. According to the network, the project will focus on the rapper's "vibrant" family and her "personal and musical evolution that lead to her eventual rise to stardom."

“Nicki Minaj is a force to be reckoned with at everything she touches,” ABC Family’s EVP of Programming and Development Karey Burke said in statement. “Nicki is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is, and we can’t wait to share it with the world.”

In addition to executive producing the untitled effort, Minaj will also appear in the series.
