Following the release of his single "Much About Sadness," which premiered last month on Variance, New York up-and-comer Brett Castro has released his debut Cry a Little Quieter EP.

The four-song project, out now across digital platforms, includes "Much About Sadness," his debut single "Picture Perfect," as well as well as "Brother, Brother," a song about watching his brothers fight addiction, and the emotional title track, which nods to his childhood in Ohio, meant to "peek behind the white picket fences and red front doors into something a little more worn in and bruised,” he said of the track.

"The name Cry a Little Quieter alludes to suburbia’s preoccupation with keeping its problems hidden," says Castro of the EP. "You’d see nice houses, money, everything you thought made a perfect life—but behind it all was so often a dark story. I approach music the same way."

Castro will celebrate the EP's release with a May 2 show at The Delancey in New York.
