At long last, Dan Vidmar (aka Shy Girls) has released his debut album Salt, a few days earlier than expected.

The record, which was one of Variance's 50 Albums to Watch for in 2017, was originally scheduled for release on Friday (Jan. 20), the same day Donald Trump assumes the reins of the United States presidency.

According to Vidmar, the album is reflective of life and death and the ups and downs he's personally experienced. "I am aware that time erodes me, like salt on ice," he said of the record. "But absurdly, I choose to love and laugh and dream and birth, this time with others so that they are our births and we are never alone."

He self-produced the album, which includes such standouts as his hypnotic track "Why I Love" and "I Am Only a Man," the latter of which was one of Variance's 100 Best Songs of 2016.
