It's official. The Civil Wars will return with their self-titled album on Aug. 6. After making clear last month that they intended to release another album this summer, the duo on Tuesday made official the release date. But they didn't do so empty-handed. Following days of teasing, the pair comprised of Joy Williams and John Paul White unveiled a new track titled "The One That Got Away."
The new cut is very notably carried by Williams' vocals. Unlike most of their previous material, there aren't a lot of big, lustrous harmonies between her and White. Of course, this is only one song in, but after the rocky past nine months they have had, it's still worth noting.
The new album is currently available for pre-order on iTunes.
