After Instagram users noticed Tuesday that the #EDM hashtag wasn't loading to search, the Facebook-owned photo-sharing application has confirmed it has indeed blocked the tag.

Instagram issued a statement Tuesday afternoon to Time: “In this case, #EDM was being used to share content that violates our guidelines around nudity," said the company's spokesperson Gabe Madway.

He claims the app is looking into a means to eventually restore the #EDM hashtag as well as others that have previously been blocked.

Hashtags for profanity or words generally linked to sexual references or innuendos have long been restricted from Instagram's search function. When the app earlier this year began allowing users to tag emoji, the eggplant (largely used to symbolize a penis on social media) was banned from searches because it violated Instagram's guidelines.
