D'Angelo has followed up news of his forthcoming Black Messiah album with the release of the studio version for "Sugah Daddy," a track he's previously performed live.
The singer revealed the LP's tracklist during an exclusive listening on Sunday. He also explained the title's politically influenced meaning: "[It's] about all of us. It's about the world. It's about an idea we can all aspire to. We should all aspire to be a Black Messiah."
The album, which is the singer's first since 2000's Voodoo, is a collaboration with his band The Vanguard. Its first official single "Really Love" is expected to hit radio on Monday.
Q-Tip, one of the album's contributors, said in a tweet the album will actually be released Sunday evening.
Update: The album will be available at midnight (EST) Monday morning on iTunes.
