Death Cab for Cutie is back!

The Benjamin Gibbard-fronted band on Wednesday released their new song "Roman Candles," the first from their upcoming 10th album Asphalt Meadows, which will be released Sept. 16 via Atlantic Records.

“‘Roman Candles’ is about the crippling, existential dread that goes hand in hand with living in a nervous city on a dying planet," says the band of the track, produced by John Congleton, who also produced the full album. "And that the only way to be in the moment is to let it all go.”

Gibbard says: “The lyrics were cobbled from a couple of different songs dealing with my general sense of anxiety; the feeling that the fabric that weaves a functioning society together was crumbling during the pandemic.”

In addition to the new music, Death Cab has also announced an upcoming tour. Tickets for the newly announced dates go on sale May 20, but a pre-sale starts next Monday (May 16).
